LESSON INFORMATION
Alison Drat Piano Studio offers private lessons and group classes. During private lessons, students receive individualized one-on-one instruction. Group classes provide opportunities for peer learning and performing.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Students will participate in weekly private lessons. Lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60 minute segments depending on a student's age and level. From the first lesson, students have fun exploring musical concepts and learning to play pieces on the piano. The lesson curriculum emphasizes the development of a healthy playing technique and music reading skills. These skills will enable students to enjoy playing music for a lifetime. Lessons also include a variety of activities in the areas of music theory, music history, listening, composition, and improvisation to develop well-rounded musicianship. Effective practicing strategies are modeled and explored during lessons so that students learn how to practice successfully.
GROUP CLASSES
Group classes are scheduled throughout the year to provide an opportunity for students to perform for each other and learn alongside their peers. Since piano lessons are primarily a solo endeavor, group classes help to promote a sense of teamwork in the studio. Students meet others their age that are also learning to play the piano. A group class will be scheduled in each of the three semesters, fall/winter, spring, and summer.
