SUMMER LESSONS
Summer lessons are offered on a flexible schedule. Parents can select days and times each week that work with their child's other summer activities. Continuing lessons over the summer is important for a number of reasons.
1. Lessons are structured as a fun summer activity.
A themed incentive program provides students with goals to meet and awards to work toward. The summer culminates with a group class in which students of a similar level meet together to perform for each other and receive their awards.
2. Students have more time to explore areas of interest.
Longer lessons are available during the summer to provide additional opportunities for students to explore areas that interest them, such as composition, improvisation, harmonization, or theory. More time can also be spent on popular and classical repertoire.
3. Continuing lessons over the summer helps students maintain a routine.
By the summer, most students have incorporated practicing into their daily routine. Continuing lessons reinforces this routine and prevents students from having to start over again in the fall. As students continue to learn and grow over the summer months, their enjoyment of playing the piano is fostered.
